Meet miranda
Philly Hummus Girl
Miranda Stephen is a Lebanese-American chef and founder of Philly Hummus Girl, based in Philadelphia. Her cooking is rooted in the legacy of her grandfather, Fredrick Jabbour Stephen, a chef from Kfarsghab, Lebanon who spent many years cooking in Philadelphia. His memory and culture were preserved by her mother through the Lebanese meals she prepared at home. Miranda grew up between cultures and continents, spending her formative years between Pennsylvania, Dubai, and Lebanon before attending university in the American South.
She started Philly Hummus Girl out of her rowhome kitchen, making mezze to raise funds for the Lebanese Red Cross. In her first year of business, Miranda was voted Best Chef by over 40,000 readers in the Philadelphia Inquirer's Philly Faves.
At the mezze table, she found a place where plates are passed, stories are exchanged, and strangers become known. That experience continues to shape her cooking and approach to hospitality.
